The College and Career fair is put on by the freshman counselors, Ms. Abegglen and Ms. Arkin. It is the 3rd annual Career fair and second annual College fair. The fair started as a way to get students, and particularly freshman, thinking about life post high school. Now, Freshman go to the career fair with their English classes, and every other year with their math classes.
Many of the careers presented in the fair were from parents, alumni, or businesses affiliated with East. These included American Family, Sector 67, UW departments, and many more. Students had to go around to the different careers and get information from the presenter to see which careers they might be interested in.
The college fair included collages from all over Wisconsin, and some from Minnesota and Michigan. Most of the colleges were 4 year universities, but there were some 2 year and technical colleges. Also, there was a Navy station which talked about another option for post high school education. The Navy would pay for the students to go to college and give them a stipend for food and living, in exchange, these student after college would go into the Navy and serve for 5 years after they graduated.
The College and Career takes place every year and for more information talk to Ms. Abegglen or Ms. Arkin.
